It is with much deliberation and deep regret that Illinois Reining Horse Association has made the decision to cancel the State Fair Reining Show July 18-21, 2020. Much uncertainty regarding Governor Pritzker’s reopening plan and the yet to be made decision about whether there will be a State Fair has played into much of our discussion and concern. The health and welfare of our members, all individuals participating in or producing the show is of utmost importance to our board. We sincerely recognize that this will be disappointing to some and all of us are eager to get back to what we love to do but we feel it would not be a wise decision to gather at this time.
With this decision we have also cancelled our year end award activities.
Thank you to everyone who has already joined ILRHA for 2020. If you wish, your membership payment will automatically roll over to the 2021 show season or you may contact Carol Vols, our secretary for a full refund. We will be back in 2021 with a healthier, safer environment for all.
Please continue to visit our website and facebook page for additional information.
Thank you for understanding and stay well.
Our reining clinic held on May 12-13, 2018 at Hampton Oaks Stables in Chillicothe, IL was a great success! Thirteen riders spent two days with Doug and Matt - two outstanding NRHA Professional Horsemen and Matt is also an NRHA Judge. The riders started out working on foundation steps for good steering and worked all the way through the signature spins, rundowns, and slides. Matt also gave a very informational presentation on the judging aspects for a reining pattern. Every rider made great progress and walked away with a wealth of knowledge and multiple tools for working with their horses both at home and in the show pen.
